December Favourites 2014

Film: The Imitation Game

Benedict Cumberbatch stars as WWII mathematician and computer scientist Alan Turing. The film follows his life from his morose teenage years, through his work for the British Government to intercept and decipher German code, to his imprisonment for his homosexuality.

Starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley, Matthew Goode and Mark Strong, this film is definitely a dramatic tear-jerker.

Music: MisterNothing

Mitchel Emms was a contestant on series 2 of The Voice UK, and did a brilliant rendition of the Foo Fighters’ ‘Best of You’ (I prefer his version to the original)

MisterNothing is his band, who currently have two albums: ‘All My Favourite Bands are Dead’ (2014) and ‘From the Black and Blue E.P.’ (2014)

Both albums are available in full on their YouTube channel, MisterNothing

Tech: TV

Yes, everything the TV has to offer. Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without the masses of films and TV specials available. Highlights this year include the final two episodes of Miranda, the Call the Midwife Christmas special, Monsters Inc. on BBC1, countless repeats of Arthur Christmas and the hilarious Big Fat Quiz of the Year on Channel 4. I’m especially excited to hear that Call the Midwife will be returning for series 4 n 2015 and series 5 in 2016!

However, the ITV Pantomimes were sorely missed this year, I hope they bring them back for Christmas 2015.
